Vaccine Requirements for the State of Arkansas

Vaccine requirements may be relaxed or eliminated in some regions and/or states due to shortages in the manufacture of some vaccines. Please contact your healthcare provider, or your local public health department for more information.

Vaccine Age/Grade Comments
Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis (DTaP) Day Care, Head Start, K-12 Day Care, Head Start- Age appropriate (means that the number of doses of a vaccine a child should have received is dependent upon the child’s age, and this defined by CDC at www.cdc.gov)

K - At least four doses of Diphtheria/Tetanus/Acellular Pertussis (DTaP), Diphtheria/Tetanus/Pertussis (DTP), or Diphtheria/Tetanus (DT pediatric) vaccine. 1 -12- At least three doses of Diphtheria/Tetanus/Acellular Pertussis (DTaP), Diphtheria/Tetanus/Pertussis (DTP), Diphtheria/Tetanus (DT-pediatric), or Tetanus/Diphtheria (Td-adult) or Tetanus/Diphtheria/Acellular Pertussis (Tdap-adult)

7th grade: In addition to the vaccines requirements listed under 1st through 12th grade, one dose of Tdap vaccine if applicable

Hepatitis A None/No Requirements None/No Requirements
Hepatitis B Day Care, Head Start, K-12 Day Care, Head Start, K-12: 3 doses, age appropriate (means that the number of doses of a vaccine a child should have received is dependent upon the child’s age, and this defined by CDC at www.cdc.gov/nip). K, 7, and all transfer students: 3 doses are required. 7th graders and Transfer students 11-15 years of age may use an alternative two dose schedule.
Hib Day Care, Head Start Day Care, Head Start- Age appropriate
Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) Day Care, Head Start, K-12, College/University Day Care, Head Start, K-12 -
If a student has previously received two doses of measles, one 
dose of mumps and one dose of rubella before January 1, 2010, the doses will be 
accepted as compliant to immunization requirements and 2 MMRs are not required
If a student has previously received two doses of measles, one dose of mumps and one dose of rubella before January 1, 2010, the doses will be accepted as compliant to immunization requirements and 2 MMRs are not required.

College, University- required prior to entry

Varicella Day Care, Head Start, Kindergarten Day Care, Head Start, Kindergarten - 2 doses of Varicella (chickenpox) vaccine without accepting history of disease in lieu of receiving Varicella vaccine.
