Georges Peter, M.D. is Professor of Pediatrics and Vice Chair for Faculty Affairs, Department of Pediatrics at the Brown Medical School and Director of the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Hasbro Children’s Hospital/Rhode Island Hospital. He is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases.
From 1979 to 2000, Dr. Peter was a member of the Committee on Infectious Diseases of the American Academy of Pediatrics and from 1983 to 1997 was the editor of the Red Book - Report of the Committee on Infectious Diseases. Dr. Peter has authored or co-authored approximately 150 articles, including original, peer-review research papers, review articles, and book chapters. From 1993 to 1995, Dr. Peter was President of the Pediatric Infectious Disease Society and later was the Society’s liaison to the Council of the Infectious Disease Society of America. He currently is Chair of the National Vaccine Advisory Committee of the Department of Health and Human Services.
Dr. Peter is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Medical School.
