Notice to Readers: Recall of Tripedia Vaccine

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration last month recalled a batch of Pasteur Merieux Connaught’s Tripedia diphtheria, tetanus and acellular pertussis vaccine (DTaP). The vaccine, lot number 0916490, was distributed between February and June 1998. While all lots met potency specifications prior to distribution, standard post-release stability testing completed last month revealed the potency of the diphtheria portion of the vaccine was below specification. However, the potency of the tetanus and pertussis components was acceptable.
