Incoming seventh-graders in the Los Angeles Unified School District are required to have proof of a TDaP booster shot before school starts on August 12. L.A. Unified will host several clinics to help ensure that students have access to free boosters. Because of an ongoing epidemic of pertussis, students who do not have proof of vaccination will be barred from attending class, in accordance with California law. Children eligible for the free clinics include those who receive Medi-Cal, those of Native American descent, and children who do not have insurance.
