Officials: 19 Cases of Measles Identified in Outbreak Across Upper Manhattan, the Bronx

The measles outbreak affecting parts of Manhattan and the Bronx, N.Y., has so far involved 19 people—nine children and 10 adults—and sent four people to the hospital. The cases were concentrated in Manhattan’s Inwood Hill Park, Washington Heights, and Hudson Heights neighborhoods and Melrose and Mount Hope in the Bronx. Health officials are encouraging all New Yorkers to get vaccinated and are collaborating with hospitals to minimize exposure in emergency rooms.
