China Investigates After Vaccine Suspected in Seven Deaths

Chinese health officials have launched an investigation after seven infants died after receiving the hepatitis B vaccine made by Shenzhen-based BioKangtai. Hospitals have been ordered by the Health Ministry to remove the vaccine from their shelves while the investigation is in progress. Four of the deaths were in the Guangdong province, while the others were reported in Hunan and Sichuan. BioKangtai is testing batches of the vaccine that are suspected in the deaths.
