SARS Virus Mutated Into More Infectious Form

Analysis of the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) outbreak that infected more than 8,000 people last winter determined that the coronavirus that causes SARS mutated to enhance its access to humans. The research, published in the most recent issue of the journal Science, points to a future SARS virus even more dangerous to humans. The findings could aid in the development of a SARS vaccine.
