In Australia, the federal government has proposed adding four more vaccines to the national free immunization program, said Nigel Curtis of the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne. Curtis said the program could significantly reduce the incidence of some diseases, and it could eradicate chickenpox. He noted, "We hope that with the chickenpox vaccine, we would be able to almost eliminate this disease so that it would become a historical entity."
