New Pneumococcal Conjugate and Hepatitis B VISs Now Available
Infectious Diseases in Children; 36

[09/01/2001]

Revised Vaccine Information Statements (VISs) have been issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regarding the pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV7) and HepB vaccine. The new VISs replace last year's interim report. When administering the PCV7 vaccine to children and infants, physicians are advised to follow the new VIS guidelines. They should note that PCV7 VIS should not be confused with the pneumococcal polysaccharide VIS, used only for senior citizens and high-risk patients. The new VISs are located on the CDC's Web site, http://www.cdc.gov.
