Tetanus Shortage Hitting Allen County
Associated Press;

[07/05/2001]

In Indiana, Allen County commissioners have given the Fort Wayne-Allen County Health Department permission to start charging for tetanus vaccinations. According to authorities, the dwindling supply of the tetanus vaccine has resulted in it being sold only to emergency rooms and health departments. As a result, the authorities said, the health department had to start charging for the service when it became one of the few institutions to offer it. Because the vaccine is in short supply, many clinics in the state have started rationing their doses for people with bad injuries, while the practice of requiring college freshmen to get tetanus injections has been put on hold in the area.
