Meningitis Breaks Out in Windhoek Area

Seven people in or near Windhoek, Namibia, have died from meningitis recently. Three people out of five people with confirmed meningitis died in April, and four people out of 16 people with the disease died in May. Vaccinations against meningitis type A will start on June 12 for children and pregnant women at all area schools, and on June 18 for the general public, according to Ministry Under-Secretary Nestor Shivute.
