New Hepatitis Vaccine

Twinrix, a combination hepatitis A and B vaccine that was recently approved by the Food and Drug Administration, will reduce the total number of shots needed for protection against both viruses from five to three. The existing vaccines cost about $65 a shot; pricing information for Twinrix has not yet been released. Approximately 500,000 Americans contract hepatitis A or B each year.
