Kiwis Urged to Get Flu Jabs Now
Wellington Dominion (NZ); 5
Betts, Marianne

[03/17/2003]

Residents of New Zealand are being urged to get vaccinated against influenza, as the flu season is expected to begin in the country in late April or early May. The vaccine--which this year contains Hong Kong type B virus and the New Caledonia and Moscow type A viruses--is available free of charge for senior citizens and also for individuals with chronic health conditions. In 2002, some 300,000 New Zealanders received free flu shots, at an overall cost of over NZ$5 million.
