Canadian health officials report that 19 cases of measles have been diagnosed in Alberta. None of the patients, who ranged in age from four months to 23 years, had been vaccinated against the disease. According to Alberta Health Services (AHS), several family are currently under quarantine, though they noted there are likely other cases in the area they are not yet aware of. AHS is working to increase vaccination coverage in the region, and it recommends that, especially with the holidays coming, anyone planning to visit southern Alberta should get immunized before traveling.
