On June 20, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) voted unanimously to recommend FluBlok for adults ages 18 to 49 with egg allergies for the 2013-14 influenza season. If FluBlok—which is not manufactured using the influenza virus or chicken eggs—is unavailable, the ACIP says those with severe egg allergies should consult a doctor before getting vaccinated.
