Rwanda is planning to vaccinate about 5 million children in mid-March with the measles and rubella vaccine, making it the first African country to introduce the shot nationwide. Maurice Gatera, the Head of Vaccine Preventable Diseases Programme in the Ministry of Health, said the vaccine will be administered at community-based vaccination sites and in schools. He urged the parents to take advantage of the program and to make sure their children are protected against disease.
