Researchers led by Shubing Cai, community health investigator at Brown University, examined patient records from over 14,000 nursing homes for the 2006/2007 and 2008/2009 flu seasons and found that the vaccination rate for nursing home residents is less than Medicare and Medicaid’s goal of 90 percent. The study of hundreds of thousands of patient records determined that the overall vaccination rate was 82.75 percent. The study is published in the journal Health Affairs.
